Vocaloid and Hatsune Miku

Vocaloid (ボーカロイド Bōkaroido?) is a singing voice synthesizer.

The Vocaloid singing synthesizer technology is categorized as concatenative synthesis,[7][8] which splices and processes vocal fragments extracted from human singing voices in the frequency domain.

The software is intended for professional musicians as well as light computer music users and has so far sold on the idea that the only limits are the users' own skills.[3]

The software became very popular in Japan upon the release of Crypton Future Media's Hatsune Miku Vocaloid 2 software and her success has led to the popularity of the Vocaloid software in general.[109] Inside of Japan, the software has proven to be popular overall, with thousands of original songs by artists across Japan.[110]

Hatsune Miku (初音ミク?) is a singing synthesizer application with a humanoid persona, developed by Crypton Future Media. It uses Yamaha Corporation's Vocaloid 2 and Vocaloid 3 synthesizing technology.

The name of the character comes from a fusion of the Japanese for first ( hatsu?), sound ( ne?) and future (Miku (ミク?) sounds like a nanori reading of future, 未来, normally read as "mirai"[1]), referring to her position as the first of Crypton's "Character Vocal Series". Her voice is sampled from Japanese voice actress, Saki Fujita.

Hatsune Miku has performed at her concerts onstage as an animated projection.[2]
Hatsune Miku is portrayed to be a 16-year-old girl with long aqua pigtails.
